On Our Quest for God

If we spend our time solemnly or skeptically seeking after intricate proofs or extraordinary evidence of God’s existence or benevolence, we are like miners doggedly digging for a scrap of precious metal (any scrap will do!), though in fact we burrow through a mountain made of gold, with silver shovels in our hands.
